| This
small Queensland coastal town in a predominately natural environment, has developed
into a quiet tourist destination with a growing population of those looking to
get away from a hectic lifestyle. The clean white sand beaches around Agnes Water
have to be seen to be believed, from the small secluded coves and inlets to the
broad expanse of Bustard Bay and the Agnes Beach itself. Agnes
Water is directly on the ocean front and has the most northern surf beach in Queensland.
Its great weather and get away from it all ambience make it a perfect holiday
location. The winters are warm, dry and sunny, and summer temperatures
rarely exceed 30 degrees celsius. Over 300 days of sunshine are experienced
annually. Situated
exactly half way between Bundaberg in the south and Gladstone in the north about
120 klm by road from each. Agnes
Water is 57 kilometres from the turnoff at Lowmead Road. Access is also possible
from Miriam Vale which is the same distance away. The road is partly sealed with
the balance being good gravel, however, careful driving is advised. Along
with good fishing, mud crabbing, diving, swimming and surfing, activities include
boating, yachting and the Great Barrier Reef Islands close by. The area is surrounded
by National Parks and some of the best beaches still require a 4 wheel drive to
get to. Agnes Water is developing at a steady rate with two small Shopping Centers,
a Primary School, Caravan Parks, Camping Grounds, Motel a Tavern and a Petrol
Station. |
